About This Place

Located in the heart of downtown El Paso, Martha's Café is a vibrant Mexican and breakfast restaurant that offers an authentic taste of borderland flavors with a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by an eclectic collection of Dallas Cowboys memorabilia that adds a playful charm and local character to your dining experience, making it not just a meal but a memorable visit.

Martha’s Café shines brightest in its diverse and hearty menu, perfectly capturing the essence of traditional Mexican comfort food alongside classic American breakfast favorites. The chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and refried beans stand out as an irresistible signature dish—imagine crispy tortilla chips drenched in rich red sauce, topped with fluffy eggs, and accompanied by creamy beans that melt delightfully on your palate. This dish alone tells a story of tradition and homestyle care.

For those craving something heartier, the beef soup and the classic menudo are soul-warming options that have left many customers raving. The menudo, in particular, is celebrated for its robust, spicy broth and tender meat, creating a comforting bowl that awakens your taste buds with every sip. Breakfast lovers will also appreciate the pancakes and hot cakes, perfectly golden and fluffy, paired with syrup that hits just the right note of sweetness.

Martha’s commitment to fresh, flavorful dishes is further exemplified by offerings like Machaca con Huevos—shredded beef scrambled with eggs and pico de gallo—and the ever-popular steak torta, a sandwich bursting with savory grilled steak and fresh toppings, ideal for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Seafood fans can indulge in the Tilapia Fish Fillet with salsa ranchera or breaded shrimp, each dish bursting with savory, nuanced Mexican seasonings.

Beyond the food, what truly elevates Martha’s Café is its outstanding customer service and inviting vibe. Customers consistently praise attentive, warm service that makes you feel like family, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular. The ambiance is cozy, lively, and filled with local pride, making it a hub for everyone from downtown workers to members of the nearby military community.

Every visit feels like a rediscovery of familiar flavors with an added spark of genuine friendliness. Whether you’re sinking your fork into a breakfast burrito first thing in the morning or savoring a large bowl of pozole as the day winds down, Martha’s Café delights with generous portions, honest prices, and a comforting atmosphere that perfectly complements their homestyle cooking.

If you find yourself wandering through El Paso’s historic district, Martha's Café at 122 S Mesa St is more than a stop—it’s a celebration of culture, community, and the kind of food that feels like home. Very first time here and I must say it was an excellent choice we just accidentally found it thru google maps. First of all customer service was excellent our waitress was very attentive at all times. Secondly the food was delicious. We had the chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and I just had to try the menudo before we left and my taste buds were super happy. If you’re visiting El Paso I highly recommend this place. I will say and for me it was perfect. The Portions are smaller but let that stop you because it leaves room to try more than one plate. Just like we did. I still left with a full tummy and fully satisfied and pleased.

My very first time eating at this fine establishment and my first and true reaction is HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE EXISTED!!!!!!??? What a truly beautiful gem in the heart of El Paso with the most amazing atmosphere, vibe and friendly service. And that’s not even getting started on the food. The plates are spectacularly flavorful and bountiful at an extremely fair price!!!! We are very lucky to have such a fine restaurant here at home

The food and prices are superb! I didn’t expect much but I was blown away by the attentive service and the food! Don’t mind the decor; I’m a NY Giants fan myself but you are surrounded by Dallas Cowboys decor wall to wall to ceiling! Had the chilaquiles and steak torta and coffee. I’d definitely return here again. It’s a popular spot for the local military men and women too.

Giving this local downtown restaurant 5 Stars for the collection of COWBOY paraphernalia/memorabilia! Great place if you like the Dallas Cowboys! We totally enjoyed the staff and meeting Martha! Jessica our server was especially attentive to all the guest! Good coffee and tasty breakfast burrito! Pancakes with syrup were just right for our sweet tooth! So much to look at. Recommend this small but cozy place for a home style breakfast or lunch!

I'm not a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I am a fan of great local food, and Martha's Café delivered. The service was quick and friendly during breakfast. If you can get past the wall-to-wall Dallas Cowboys paraphernalia, the atmosphere is quite homely. And the food? Inexpensively delicious.

First timer here, food was good I'd give it a 7/10. Being a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, all the Cowboys memorabilia on the walls made the stop a little cooler. Our waitress was nice & welcoming. I'll stop by & try another dish sometime.
